Mayotte: Support Local Non-Profit Organisations Mobilised For the Most Vulnerable

17 December 2024 • NEWS

Act now to rebuild the future.
Let’s help local teams in Mayotte protect the most vulnerable people affected by the cyclone.

Why donate?

Mayotte is in a state of devastation. Following Cyclone Chido, thousands of families have lost their homes, belongings, and, tragically, loved ones. Yet the crisis doesn’t end there. Health risks, already high in this territory plagued by endemic poverty, are now set to skyrocket: infectious diseases, unsanitary conditions, and lack of access to clean water and healthcare. Amidst the rainy season, this disaster places Mayotte’s population in the face of an imminent health crisis.

  • Mlezi Maore is Mayotte’s largest non profit organisation, supporting thousands of marginalised people for over 20 years.
  • Santé Sud is an international NGO dedicated to ensuring access to health for everyone, working closely with local communities

Deeply embedded in the Mahoran community, the teams at Mlezi Maore and Santé Sud have been making a tangible difference on the ground for years.

Your support is essential to empower these dedicated local teams to continue their  work with the most vulnerable and excluded individuals.

How will your donation help?

Your contributions will directly assist the local teams of Mlezi Maore and Santé Sud in supporting the most vulnerable victims of Cyclone Chido.

Strengthening facilities for the most vulnerable

The 60 social and medico-social facilities of Mlezi Maore on the island provide assistance to the most vulnerable, including young people in difficulty, people with disabilities, and unaccompanied minors. Your contributions will help to rehouse, welcome, and sustainably reintegrate the victims of the cyclone.

Implementing essential health actions

In an alarming health context marked by infectious diseases and limited access to care, your contributions are vital. They will support the coordinated efforts of Santé Sud and its partners, who are directly involved with communities, particularly through outreach in the slums of Petite-Terre. Thanks to your donations, we will be able to organise crucial actions such as screening and prevention programmes and vaccinations, which are essential to containing the spread of diseases, particularly among disadvantaged populations.

Providing direct support to field workers

The field teams have also been directly affected. Yet, they remain on the front lines, committed to assisting the most vulnerable. Your donations will directly support them with housing, access to water, electricity, and other essential needs.
